Alaska’s 2014 high school football seasons kicks-off this week.

For those of you not familiar with me, I’ve always been fascinated with football in the land of the polar bears.  Over the last four years as the host of High School Football America’s radio show, I’ve done a half-dozen interviews with coaches around the state.

One of my favorite interviews was last year with Voznesenka High School football coach Justin Zank.  The Cougars are about as small as it comes in 11-man football.  There are no paved roads in the community that was founded by Russian Old Believers.
