Webb City (14-1), ranked #23 in the High School Football America National Top 25, saw its drive for a sixth straight Missouri state high school football title end at the Kearney 1-yard line Friday in the Class 4 championship game. The Cardinals drove from their own 20 to the Kearney 1 before fumbling with :14 seconds to go in the 17-14 loss.
Kearney, which won its fourth overall state title, finishes 14-1.
The loss also snapped Webb City’s 42-game win streak.
