The Allen Eagles (Texas), the three-time defending High School Football America “mythical” national champs, are back on-top of our national rankings, which are based on our proprietary algorithm.  The Eagles, ranked #2 in our preseason Top 25, ascend back to the #1 ranking thanks to a 2-0 start, plus last week’s loss by preseason #1 De La Salle (California) to Euless Trinity (Texas).

After being named co-champs at the end of the 2012 season, Allen has spent every week at #1, except for our 2015 preseason poll, which was released at the beginning of August.  High School Football America doesn’t release its first in-season poll until the Labor Day Weekend games are complete, in order to allow our algorithm formula to do its job once all of the states play at least one game.

There are five new teams in our Top 25 — St. Edward (Ohio) at #16, St. Joseph Regional (Montvale, New Jersey) at #20, Center Grove (Indiana) at #21, McEachern (Georgia) at #23 and Bergen Catholic (New Jersey) at #24.  This Saturday, St. Edward will travel to New Jersey to play St. Joe’s

With its 26-21 win over De La Salle, Euless Trinity vaults from #23 to #7.  The Spartans, who rebounded to beat Serra (San Mateo, California) Friday night, fall to #11.

The biggest mover is DeMatha (Maryland), which has opened with impressive wins over #4 Miami Central (Florida) and #46 American Heritage (Plantation, Florida) climbs from #21 to #4.

We will release our Other 25 — #26 through #50 on Monday.
