Alabama’s Hoover and McGill-Toolen had perfect days during pool play at Day 1 of the National Select 7 on 7 in Hoover, Alabama. Both teams won all seven games on Friday to win their respect pools and pick-up high seeds for Saturday’s championship round.
Hoover won Pool A, which included a 23-14 win over North Carolina-power Mallard Creek, while McGill-Toolen, from Pool B, defeated in-state power and defending Alabama 6A champ Clay-Chalkville 17-14. Hoover received the #1 seed for the championship round, while McGill-Toolen is the #3 seed.
Spartanburg from South Carolina also had a perfect Friday winning Pool D. The Vikings advanced to Saturday as the tournament’s #2 seed. Mallard Creek will enter Saturday as the #4 seed in the 32 team field.
