Defending Alabama Independent School Association AA champ Bessemer Academy drops opener

Lamar School (Mississippi) beat Bessemer Academy 42-21 Friday night in the SECIS Kickoff Classic at Montgomery’s Crampton Bowl.  Bessemer entered the game as the defending Alabama independent School Association AA champ.

Bessemer jumped-out to a 7-0 lead when Jalen Conwell returned the opening kickoff 91 yards for a touchdown, according to al.com.  Lamar roared back behind three interceptions.

The Kickoff Classic continues Saturday with two games — Autauga Academy (Alabama) vs. Valwood (Georgia) and Escambia Academy (Alabama) vs. First Baptist (South Carolina).
