DeSoto’s Mathis officially going to SMU

DeSoto High School Eagles footballClaude Mathis is officially no longer the head football coach at DeSoto.  His long rumored hiring at SMU was made official today.  He joins new head coach Chad Morris‘ staff as the program’s running backs coach.

In seven seasons at DeSoto, Mathis led the school to a 74-18 record that included to trips to the Texas Class 5A Division I state semifinals in 2012 and 2013.  This past season, DeSoto finished 10-2 and #24 in the nation in the High School Football America Top 25 with loses to national champion Allen and #11 Cedar Hill.
