First in-season High School Football America Top 100

high school football america top 100

Hold on to your hats high school football fans, the real fun is here with 15 states already into their regular seasons and 12 more to joining the party this week.

This is our first in-season High School Football America Top 100 poll that is created with our proprietary algorithm.  Last weekend, 24 teams in our preseason poll that was released on July 17 played with four of them suffering defeats.

Trinity (Kentucky) is this week’s biggest mover as the Shamrocks climb 21 spots to No. 31 after defeating then No. 17 Carmel (Indiana) 31-3 in a battle of defending Indiana and Kentucky Class 6A champs Friday night.  The loss dropped the Greyhounds to No. 66 this week.

Warren Central (Indiana) moves-up three spots to No. 17 after defeating then No. 48 Center Grove (Indiana) 27-24.

That sets-up this week’s Top 100 battle between Warren Central and Trinity in the Hoosier state.  The WC/Trinity match-up is one of a dozen all-Top 100 match-ups this weekend.

Heading the list is top-ranked St. John Bosco taking-on No. 14 St. Thomas Aquinas in Florida on national television.  Both teams are coming-off outstanding state championship seasons.

Also on ESPN on Friday will be defending “mythical” national champ Bishop Gorman (Nevada) hosting No. 13 DeMatha (Maryland).  The Gaels are No. 4 in the Top 100.

In Arizona, No. 11 Chandler will square-off with No. 5 IMG Academy (Florida)

The other all-Top 100 games are: No. 8 Hoover (Alabama) at No. 16 Grayson (Georgia), in Utah No. 62 Bingham against No. 22 East, No. 77 Serra (Gardena, California) at No. 27 Narbonne (California), No. 33 Saguaro (Arizona) travels to No. 60 Liberty (Nevada), No. 34 Cocoa (Florida) will take-on No. 36 Trinity Christian Academy (Florida), No. 44 Wayne (Huber Heights, Ohio) at No. 89 Pine-Richland (Pennsylvania), No. 41 American Heritage (Plantation, Florida) hits the road to face No. 64 Bishop Sullivan (Virginia), No. 79 Pickerington Central (Ohio) faces No. 56 Cass Tech (Michigan) and No. 67 Chaminade-Madonna tangles with No. 63 Miami Central in a great in-state battle in Florida.

Lowndes (Georgia), which shutout defending Georgia 5A champ and former No. 81 Valdosta on 45-0 Friday is one of two new teams in the Top 100 this week.  The Vikings enter at No. 86, while Valdosta drops-out of the Top 100.  Former No. 89 Roswell was the second Georgia team to drop from the ratings after suffering a double-overtime loss in the Corky Kell Classic.

Judson from Texas, which was on the bubble at No. 101 in our preseason rankings, enters at No. 100, giving the Lone Star State 17 teams in the Top 100.
