The Ohio High School Athletic Association has decided to move its biggest classification playoff games to Friday night for the 2016. season.  Last month, OHSAA Executive Director Dr. Dan Ross announced that the organization was looking at switching the Division I playoff games from Saturday to Friday, because there are so many Saturday night college football games that could be impacting attendance.

Not only has the OHSAA moved the Division I playoff games, but the state’s governing body is also moving Division IV and Division VI games from Saturday to Friday.  Division III, VI and VII games will be flipped from Friday night to Saturday.  The Division II games will remain on Friday night.

This is the second tweak that the OHSAA has made to the Division I playoffs.  Last month, the state officials announced that the division will begin using a four region playoff format, instead of two.

Practice across the state begins August 1st with most of the first games being played on August 26th.
