Winton Woods shook-up the latests High School Football America Ohio Top 25 with its upset of former No. 4 La Salle on Friday. The 18-15 win brings Winton Woods into the rankings created with at proprietary algorithm at No. 8.
Looking at the week ahead, No. 1 St. Xavier will look to go 2-0 in the Great Catholic League South Division when the Bombers play No. 22 Elder Friday. Elder is 3-2 after a 3-0 start and back-to-back loses to No. 2 St. Ignatius and No. 3 St. Edward.
Also in the GCL-South, No. 9 La Salle will look to rebound from its Winton Woods loss against No. 17 Archbishop Moeller, which is coming-off a 30-7 loss to No. 1 St. X.
No. 7 Wayne (Huber Heights) will square-off with No. 13 Centerville in a Greater Western Ohio Central Division match-up. This will be Wayne’s first league game, while Centerville opened two weeks ago with a win over No. 18 Springfield.
First place in the Three Rivers Athletic Conference will be on the line when No. 11 Toledo Central Catholic plays No. 16 Whitmer. Both teams are a perfect 5-0.
There will be a big interstate game in Lakewood where St. Edward will host Naperville Central (Illinois), currently ranked No. 19 in the current Midwest Top 20.
