South Carolina joined the growing list of states that are starting their 2018 fall high school football camps over the next two weeks. Friday was the first official day of practice across the state.

For the first two days, players only wear helmets. Pads are added on Days 3 and 4. The first day in full gear will be Wednesday.

The season begins with two teams ranked highly in the High School Football America Preseason 100 — two-time defending and 2017 5A champ Dutch Fork at No. 25 and four-time defending state champ and 2017 4A champ South Pointe at No. 35. Five teams received honorable mention, meaning they are ranked between No. 126 and No. 225. They are: Boiling Springs, Dorman, T.L. Hanna, Northwestern and Spartanburg.
