Ketchikan High School football logoKetchikan head football coach Les Silva was fired Friday over a situation that seems confusing from a far.

KTVA-TV reports that Ketchikan principal Sam Nelson fired Silva after an “incident between a group of football  players and Kayhi activities director.  The report says that some football players confronted the activities director about trying to get another game after their final game of the season against Sitka was cancelled, because Sitka didn’t have enough players.

Nelson said the move by the players was inappropriate. The report state that the head coach told the players they could make their voices hear, but didn’t direct them to approach the Ed Klein, the activities director.

Ketchikan was 6-2 this season.
