Oaks Christian Lions footballEric Sondheimer of the LA Times is reporting that Oaks Christian will announce Thursday that Jim Benkert will become an associate head coach.  Benkert has been the head coach at nearby Westlake High since 1989.

Sondheimer’s story says that Benkert will become a co-head coach with Bill Redell.

Benkert overall record at Westlake is 226-86-5 that included an appearance in the 2011 CIF Open Division Bowl Championship game where the Warriors lost to De La Salle 35-0.  You can watch highlights from that game below, plus listen to my interview with Coach Benkert on High School Football America’s radio prior to the championship game.
