The showdown is set! The 2016 high school football season in Southern California started with everyone circling October 21st on their calendars for the Trinity League showdown between Mater Dei and St. John Bosco. Seven weeks later, those two have held-up their ends of the bargain and Friday night at Cerritos College, the two top teams in the area and in California will collide.
Mater Dei enters the game as the #1 team in the High School Football America Southern California and California Top 25’s. Nationally, Mater Dei is ranked #3, while Bosco is #6. St. John Bosco began the season, ranked #1 in our preseason national poll, while Mater Dei was #4.
As far as this week’s poll, the top seven teams hold their spots and each team that was in last week’s rankings, are in this week’s poll with plenty of shuffling.
Serra (Gardena) continues its charge up-the-rankings. The Cavs, who took-over sole control of the Mission League with its defeated of former #9 Bishop Amat, move-up three spots to #8.
The biggest mover this week is Servite, which moves-up five spots to #16 after defeating former #10 JSerra.
