The games keep getting bigger-and-bigger for the High School Football America National Top 25.

Ten of the teams will be going after state gold this coming weekend with two of the games featuring match-ups between Top 25 teams.

However, the game that will have the biggest impact  on the “mythical” national championship chase will take place in Southern California where #2 St. John Bosco and #3 Corona Centennial will battle for the CIF-Southern Section championship, which will send the winner into the state’s Open Division championship game against, in all likelihood, #8 De La Salle.

The Bosco/Centennial game will be a rematch of last year’s CIF-SS Pac-5 championship that Corona Centennial won in a 48-41 shootout.

Three Top 25 teams lost this past weekend, which shakes-up the new rankings that are created by using High School Football America’s proprietary algorithm.

We’ll start in the Top 5, where St. Edward, which will play Wayne on Saturday in the Ohio Division I championship game, moves from #6 to #5.   The Eagles flip-flopped poll positions with Colquitt County (Georgia), who will play in the Georgia Class AAAAAA semifinals this weekend.  St. Ed will have to defend its 2014 gold medal against a very good Wayne team that jumps from #22 to #12 after beating former #10 Colerain 28-21 on Saturday.

Another gold medal match-up between nationally-ranked teams this weekend will be in New Jersey where #21 St. Joseph Regional (Montvale) will square-off with #22 Don Bosco Prep in the state’s Non-Public Group 4 title game.

Two Top 25 teams won gold medals this weekend.

Center Grove, which won its second Indiana state championship Saturday night, moves back into the Top 10 this week at #10.  Loyola Academy, which was ranked #26 in The Other 25 last week, breaks into the Top 25 at #23 after winning Illinois’ 8A championship on Saturday.

Also new to the poll this week is Archbishop Rummel (Louisiana) at #25.  The Raiders will play for Louisiana’s Select Division I championship on Friday.

Other ranked teams going after gold this weekend — #4 Bishop Gorman (Nevada), #11 Male (Kentucky), #16 Maryville (Tennessee), #17 Clay-Chalkville (Alabama) and #19 La Salle (Ohio).
