Offensive tackle Tommy Brown’s high school football career could be described as that of a rocket. Brown, who never played football until his freshman year at Mater Dei (California), gave his verbal commitment to the University of Alabama Friday.

The 4-star prospect, who is 6-7, 315 pounds, chose the Crimson Tide over Oregon, according to Scout.com.  In June, Brown, whose dad threw the shot put at Alabama in the 80’s, called his scholarship offer from Alabama a “dream offer.”

“My parents are super excited for me as well and I can’t wait to follow in my dads footsteps here,” he told Scout. “This is truly a dream come true for me and I’m very excited and honored to be committed to such a great program like Bama.”
