Michigan sees slight drop in high school football participation numbers

The Michigan High School Athletic Association recently released participation numbers for the 2014-15 school year.

The MHSAA reports that 40,088 student-athletes participated in high school football last year, which was a 1.4% decrease from the 2013-14 school year.  According to a news release is the percentage decrease was less than those between the 2011-12 and 2013-14 school years.

The decrease from 2011-12 to 2012-13 was 3.7%.  Football participation dropped 2% between 2012-13 and 2013-14.
