Not many changes in our first in-season High School Football America/SoCal Top 25 that uses our proprietary algorithm. With 2015 game action being added to our rankings formula, you’ll see some slight changes in this week’s rankings, especially since several teams were idle during Week 0.
Only three teams in our preseason rankings — #20 Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks), #22 Great Oak and #25 San Clemente — lost this past weekend. Notre Dame’s loss was to former #21 Oaks Christian in a game that saw the Knights squander a 14-point fourth quarter lead. The Lions victory moves them up to #18, while Notre Dame only slips one spot to #21.
Mission Viejo jumped two spots this week to #8. The Diablos, who started 0-2 last year, improved to 2-0 on Saturday with a 27-14 win over Bakersfield Liberty.
Expect more changes next Sunday because there are seven match-up this week involving Top 25 teams.
It all gets started Thursday when #6 Long Beach Poly travels to #7 Narbonne.
In Santa Ana Friday, #3 Mater Dei, fresh off its 24-21 win over #4 Bishop Amat, will host #19 Tesoro. Speaking of Amat, the Lancers will host #24 Servite, which enters the poll this week after a 45-7 win over Fountain Valley.
Also on Friday, #13 Norco hosts #17 Rancho Cucamonga and #12 Crespi takes on #14 Orange Lutheran.
It wraps-up Saturday night when #1 Corona Centennial collides with #5 Serra (Gardena) in The Honor Bowl in Oceanside.
