Soldotna proved that it’s more than an Alaska-power.  Friday night, the Stars beat Crater (Oregon), a school with an enrollment twice the size of Soldotna, 20-7.  The win was the 53rd straight for the Stars, who had to play the game in Crescent City, California, because of wildfires in southern Oregon.

At the half-way point of the regular season, the five-time state champs remain the No. 1 team in the latest High School Football America Alaska Top 5 that is created with our proprietary algorithm.

Colony and Chugiak remain No. 2 and No. 3 respectively.  Right now those two are on a collision course for the regular season finale on September 29, which should decide the Northern Railbelt Conference.

Barlett stays at No. 4 after giving defending California 4AA champ Pleasant Valley a tussle before losing 41-26
