Cass Tech wins battle of unbeatens for state title

Northern Illinois-bound quarterback Rodney Hall tossed five touchdown passes to lead #18 Cass Tech (14-0) to a 49-20 win over Detroit Catholic Central (13-1) in the Michigan Division 1 state championship game Saturday at Ford Field, home of the NFL’s Detroit Lions.  The two teams entered the game ranked #1 and #2 in the latest High School Football America Michigan Top 10 with Cass Tech also ranked #18 in our National Top 25.

Hall’s favorite target was Donovan Peoples-Jones, the Technicians five star receiver, who is ranked as the nation’s #1 receiver.  Peoples-Jones, who uncommitted in the recruiting process, caught two of Hall’s TD throws and amassed 118 yards receiving.  Hall threw for 220 total yards.

The title is Cass Tech’s third in the last six years.
