Lincolnton receiver Sage Surratt is the Associated Press’ 2016 North Carolina Offensive Player of the Year and Wake Forest linebacker Darius Hodge is the Defensive Player of the Year.
Surratt had 129 catches for 2,104 yards and 28 touchdowns this season, setting single-season records for receptions and yardage. Last year, Sage’s brother Chazz, who’s currently at North Carolina, was named the AP’s Offensive Player of the Year.
Hodge, who is a North Carolina State-recruit, led Wake Forest to the 2016 Class 4AA state title.
Wake Forest head coach Reggie Lucas was named the AP Coach of the Year.
