The curtain falls on the regular season this week with a couple of big rivalry showdowns in the High School Football America Ohio Top 25.
Let’s start with Friday night’s 56th meeting between No. 4 St. Edward and No. 5 St. Ignatius that will be played at FirstEnergy Stadium, the home of the NFL’s Cleveland Browns. Both teams are also ranked in the High School Football America 100.
St. Ignatius, which brings a three-game series win streak into the game, holds a 30-24-1 lead in the series advantage.
On Saturday, it’s the granddaddy of Ohio high school football games when No. 6 Massillon Washington plays No. 24 Canton McKinley for the 129th time at Paul Brown Stadium, home of the Cincinnati Bengals. Coming into the War of 1894, Massillon leads the all-time series 70-53-5.
There are two other head-to-head matchups in the Top 25 — No. 7 Archbishop Moeller faces No. 9 Winton Woods and No. 20 Northmont takes on No. 25 Miamisburg.
