It’s a battle of Texas 5A three-peaters tonight when #19 Southlake Carroll visits Midland Lee. These two are the only Texas 5A schools to win three straight titles – the Dragons did it from 2004-2006, Midland Lee did it from 1998-2000.
Southlake Carroll is coming-off an emotional overtime win last week Union (Oklahoma) that ended with a two-point conversion that went viral. The kid catching the two-point conversion above, for the one point win, is actually quarterback Ryan Agnew. This is the second year that Agnew has been the firing-point of the team’s spread offense that has been manned in the past by names such as Kansas City Chiefs QB Chase Daniel, Greg McElroy, Riley Dodge, Scott Chandler and current Texas A&M quarterback Kenny Hill.
Agnew has completed 31 of 55 passes for 396 yards and two interceptions while throwing three touchdowns while leading the Dragons to two victories by a total of four points.
Midland Lee enters the game 1-1.
