Texas Associatiion of Sports OfficialsIt’s a trend that we’ve been hearing about a lot over the last few years — a lack of high school football officials.

Now the Amarillo Chapter of the Texas Association of Sports Officials is going on the offensive to find fresh talent to wear striped shirts.

According to Amarillo Globe-News, there’s been a 35-percent decline in the number of football officials, which means there could be a shortfall of officials for three to five games in the Texas Panhandle region this season.

If you’re interested in being a football official in the area, you can contact Wayne Bernier at [email protected].  Training for the 2015 season begins on July 20th.
