For the second straight week there’s a new No. 1 in the High School Football America Ohio Top 25. St. Ignatius takes-over the top spot after beating St. Edward, which falls to No. 2 in the latest rankings.
Only four teams held their spots from last week with Winton Woods making a big jump in our rankings that are created with our proprietary algorithm. The Warriors move-up four spots to No. 7 thanks in-part to La Salle’s 13-7 win over Elder last Friday. La Salle, the three-time Division II champs, also jump four spots to No. 8.
Despite its ultra-tough schedule and 6-4 record, Elder did not qualify for the postseason.
New to the rankings this week is Massillon’s Perry, which draws top-ranked St. Ignatiius in the first round of the Division 1 playoffs on Friday. Perry enters the Top 25 at No. 25.
The St. Igantius/Perry match-up is one of four Top 25 match-ups in the first round of the Division 1 playoffs. The others are: No. 15 Archbishop Moeller at No. 9 Colerain, No. 17 Pickerington North at No. 16 Wayne (Huber Heights) and No. 13 Northmont at No. 5 Pickerington Central.
