The debate is over on whether junior standout Rashan Gary can play for Paramus Catholic.

The New Jersey Interscholastic Athletic Association’s Eligibility Appeals Committee voted 5-0 Thursday to allow Gary, who transferred from Scotch Plains-Fanwood this summer, eligible to play immediately for the Paladins, who open the season Saturday at Gilman in Maryland. Gary is ranked as the top recruit in New Jersey from the Class of 2016 by 247Sports.com.

The Star-Ledger reports that Scotch Plains lost its argument that Gary had been recruited by Paramus Catholic, which has won the last two New Jersey Non-Public Group 4 state titles.
