Wells claims Class C state championship behind strong ground game

Wells shutout Mount Desert Island 44-0 Saturday at Fitzpatrick Stadium to capture the Maine Class C state football championship.  Wells was led by Evan Whitten, who rushed for 219 yards and three touchdowns.  Riley Dempsey picked-up 151 yards on the ground with one TD, according to the Sun Journal.

Wells finishes 11-1, while MDI ends 10-3.
