Troy McAllister, one of the most successful high school football coaches the Chicago Public League has ever had, is leaving Phillips Academy after two Illinois high school football state championships. McAllister is the new head football coach at Sandburg.
McAllister took Phillips from a program that had barely enough players to field a team to one that was always in the conversation for a state title.
In 11 years at Phillips, McAllister led the Wildcats to a 94-28 record with a 4A state title in 2015 and a 5A title in 2017. The ’15 title was the first-ever for a CPL team.

The 2017 championship team finished No. 70 in the High School Football America 100 national rankings.

In 2018, McAllister was recognized by Gatorade with its Excellence in Coaching Award.
Sandburg is coming off a 1-5 spring season.
