2014 Don Shula NFL High School Coach of the Year winner Bruce Larson passes away

Legendary Wisconsin high school football coach Bruce Larson has passed away at the age of 58.

Larson, who had coached football at Somerset High School since 1987, took-over as head coach in 1999.

After three state championships at Somerset High School, Larson grabbed the national spotlight when he was named the 2014 winner of the Don Shula NFL High School Coach of the Year Award.

Larson appeared on the High School Football Radio Show in 2015 to discuss the honor. You can listen to that interview below.

Larson’s two sons — Rocky and Reggie — followed dad into the coaching profession. Reggie is the head coach at New Richmond High School in Richmond. Rocky is the head coach at Mayville State University in North Dakota.
