Bonny Eagle is Maine’s Class A champ after knocking-off defending state champ Thornton Academy 34-21, which snapped the Astros’ 22-game win streak. The Scots forced five turnovers to give the school its seventh state title in the last 16 years.

The star of the game was Zach Maturo, who rushed for 112 yards and two touchdowns, plus he ran a kickoff back 71-yards and also blocked an extra-point kick.

In Class B, Marshwood won its third straight state title with 48-28 win over Brunswick. It was a rematch of the 2018 state title game.

Marshwood’s Justin Bryant ran for 228 yards and five touchdowns, which gave the Hawks their fifth Class B title in six years.

Extra points made the difference in the Class C championship game won by Leavitt 30-24 over Maine Central Institute. Leavitt scored two-point conversions on three of its four scores, while MCI missed an extra-point and three two-point conversions.

In Class D, Lisbon beat Bucksport 28-8 for the title for its first title since 2006.
