Cheverus and Dexter are the Maine 8-man high school football champs.
On Saturday, Cheverus shutout Waterville 56-0 for the 8-Man Large Division. The Stags finish a perfect 8-0 on a five game shutout streak. The Cheverus defense didn’t allow a point over the last 22 quarters.
Waterville ends the season with a 7-2 record.

The 8-Man Small Division championship game came down to the final play of the game. Dexter beat Maranacook 34-30 when Bryce Connor connected with Avery Gagnon, who ran into the end zone as time expired. It was Gagnon’s only pass catch of the game.
