The Alabama High School Athletic Association and Alabama Independent School Association begin their 2022 high school football playoffs this weekend.

In 7A, Thompson is looking for its fourth straight title. The Warriors, who finished No. 4 in the final regular season High School Football America Alabama Top 10, powered by NFL Play Football, plays Huntsville Friday night.

The 7A bracket features five teams in our statewide Top 10 — No. 1 Central (Phenix City), No. 2 Hoover, No. 3 Auburn, No. 4 Thompson and No. 6 Hewitt-Trussville.

No. 5 Clay-Chalkville is considered a heavy favorite to win its second straight 6A title. Also in the bracket is No. 7 Theodore, No. 8 Hillcrest, No. 9 Mountain Brook and No. 10 Hartselle.
