The gold rush is on in Alaska as the 2023 high school football playoffs begin this weekend.
In Division I, Colony is the reigning champ. The Knights get the third seed and will play sixth-seeded Bartlett in the state quarterfinals. Colony enters the postseason ranked No. 5 in the High School Football America Alaska Top 5 high school football rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.
No. 2 West is the top-seed in the Division. The Eagles open against Juneau-Douglas/Thunder Mountain.

In Division II, Soldotna, the No. 1 team in our statewide rankings, is the top-seed. The Stars will play eighth-seeded Chugiak, a team they beat 63-7 on September 22.
Two-time defending state champ Lathrop is the No. 2 seed. The Malemutes, who beat Soldotna is the last two championship games, open with Lathrop.
