2023 Las Vegas Raiders High School Coaches of the Week

Throughout the 2023 high school football season, the Las Vegas Raiders honor high school coaches across the state with the Tom Flores High School Coach of the Week Award.  Each recipient will be awarded a $1,000 donation to the school’s football program from the Raiders and the NFL Foundation. At the end of the season, the team will honor one coach with the Coach of the Year Award.

Below are the weekly winners:

2023 Tom Flores High School Coach of the Week Winners

Week 9 – Zachary Monticelli, Legacy HS

The Las Vegas Raiders this week named Legacy High School Head Coach Zach Monticelli the Tom Flores High School Coach of the Week after Legacy High School defeated Palo Verde High School 27-20 for their fourth win of the season. The Longhorns stay unbeaten and league play and now sit alone in first place in the league standings.

Week 8 – Ernie Howren, Bishop Manogue HS

The Las Vegas Raiders this week named Bishop Manogue High School (Reno, NV.) Head Coach Ernie Howren the Tom Flores High School Coach of the Week after Bishop Manogue High School defeated Reed High School 45-0 for their fifth win of the season. The Miners jumped out to a 31-0 halftime lead and never looked back. The win was Coach Howren’s 200th career win. Bishop Manogue’s Ernie Howren has joined exclusive company, becoming just the third high school football coach in Nevada to win 200 games.

Week 7 – Deumaine Reeder, Clark HS

The Las Vegas Raiders this week named Clark High School Head Coach Deumaine Reeder the Tom Flores High School Coach of the Week after Clark High School defeated Cimarron High School 17-16 for their first win of the season.

Week 6 – Shawn Dupris, Coronado HS

The Las Vegas Raiders this week named Coronado High School Head Coach Shawn Dupris the Tom Flores High School Coach of the Week after Coronado High School defeated Shadow Ridge High School 28-14 for their second win of the season. Coronado jumped out to a 20-0 lead in the second quarter in the upset win.

Week 5 – Travis Foster, Shadow Ridge HS

The Las Vegas Raiders this week named Shadow Ridge High School Head Coach Travis Foster the Tom Flores High School Coach of the Week after Shadow Ridge High School defeated Desert Pines High School 21-20 for their fourth win of the season. Shadow Ridge jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter before Desert Pines even touched the ball. After an 80-yard drive to open the game, Shadow Ridge recovered an onside kick and went down and scored to go up 14-0. The defense had to step up in the end, after Desert Pines battled back, Shadow Ridge intercepted a potential touchdown to seal the victory.

Week 4 – Keith Jones, Bonanza HS

The Las Vegas Raiders this week named Bonanza High School Head Coach Keith Jones the Tom Flores High School Coach of the Week after Bonanza High School defeated Cheyenne High School 36-0 for their first win of the season. The defense also led the way in the shutout victory with a fumble recovery for a touchdown.

Week 3 – Rich Muraco, Liberty HS

The Las Vegas Raiders this week named Rich Muraco, from Liberty High School, the Tom Flores High School Coach of the Week for week 3 after his team defeated previously unbeaten Campbell (HI.) 20-14 in the Island Classic. Liberty’s defense forced a stop on Campbell in the final few minutes to secure the victory.

Week 2 – Vernon Brown – Foothill HS

The Las Vegas Raiders this week named Vernon Brown, from Foothill High School, was named the Tom Flores High School Coach of the Week for week 2 after his went on the road to Overton, NV to defeat Moapa Valley High School 45-7. Centennial jumped out to a 33-14 lead on Moapa Valley in the first half and never looked back.

Week 1 – DJ Campbell – Centennial HS

The Las Vegas Raiders this week named DJ Campbell, from Centennial High School, the Tom Flores High School Coach of the Week after his team defeated King Drew (Ca.) 42-20 in the opening week of the season. Centennial jumped out to an 34-14 lead on King Drew (California) in the first half. Following a professional career in the NFL, Coach Campbell returned to his hometown to start coaching high school football. After the 2022 season, Coach Campbell was named the head coach at Centennial High School. This is Coach Campbell’s first win as head coach of Centennial High School.
