2023 Polynesian High School Football Player of the Year Award Finalists announced

The Polynesian Football Hall of Fame has announced its five finalists for the 2023 Polynesian High School Football Player of the Year Award. The award is presented annually to the most outstanding senior high school football player of Polynesian Ancestry.

Four of the five finalists led their school’s to a finish in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.

The finalists are:

Dylan Raiola, Quarterback, Buford High School (Georgia)

Raiola transferred to Buford for his senior season after giving his verbal commitment to the Georgia Bulldogs. However, prior to the early signing period, he flipped to the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

On the field, Raiola, the son of former NFL lineman Dominic Raiola, threw 34 touchdowns against just one interception. He completed 160 passes in 253 throws. He threw for 2,666 yards while leading the Wolves to an 11-2 mark and a No. 49 ranking in the HSFA 300.

Michael Uini, Offensive Tackle, Copperas Cove High School (Texas)

Uini, 6-7, 335-pounds, is headed to the University of Georgia for the start of his college football career. He was considered a 4-star prospect

Kyngston Viliamu-Asa, Linebacker, St. John Bosco High School (California)

Viliamu-Asa heads to Notre Dame after leading Bosco in tackles last season with 114. He recorded 56 solo tackles with 13 for loss for the Braves, who finished No. 3 in the HSFA 300.

Isaac Wilson, Quarterback, Corner Canyon High School (Utah)

Wilson, the brother of New York Jets QB Zach Wilson, led Corner Canyon to Utah’s Class 6A state championship. He will stay in-state with the Utah Utes for the start of his college career.

He closed out his scholastic career by completing 254-of-382 passes for 4,595 yards with 49 touchdowns against only nine interceptions. He also ran for 1,304 yards with 13 touchdowns.

CC finished No. 36 in the HSFA 300.

Marcelles Williams, Cornerback, St John Bosco High School (California)

Williams stays in Southern California for his college football career after signing with USC. Last season, Williams had two interceptions with 43 solo tackles for the Braves, who were looking for their second straight HSFA national championship.
