St. Joseph’s Prep starts ’23 ranked in a familiar spot. The Hawks, the reigning 6A champs, are the top team in the High School Football America Pennsylvania Top 25 high school football rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.
SJP is also in the national championship conversation. This week, the Hawks, ranked No. 10 in the HSFA 300 national rankings will play national power IMG Academy, ranked No. 5 in the Top 300 at the Battle at the Beach in New Jersey in a nationally-televised game on ESPN.
Defending 5A champ Pine-Richland, No. 2 in the preseason rankings, opens with an interstate game against Ohio’s Pickerington North, ranked No. 137 in our national rankings. The Rams are ranked No. 219 in America.
Harrisburg’s No. 6 Bishop McDevitt, No. 300 in the nation, can improve its national ranking when it faces Maryland’s Mount St. Joseph, No. 236 in the Top 300.
No. 9 Cathedral Prep will have a tough opener against powerful Archbishop Hoban from Ohio. The Knights are currently ranked No. 32 in the HSFA 300.
This week’s in-state game of the week is in the southeast part of the state where No. 11 Garnet Valley takes on No. 13 Central Bucks West.
