Twelve Washington high school football teams will battle for state championships at Husky Stadium Friday and Saturday. The 2023 state championships are presented by the National Football League‘s Seattle Seahawks.

This is the first year that the NFL team has sponsored the championships.

“I think it’s important for the Seattle Seahawks to support the state of Washington’s football programs whether it’s youth, flag, girls flag and boys tackle, it’s important that we support the efforts of our state association,” said Paul Johns, the Seahawks director of youth and high school football.

4A Championship – Lake Stevens vs. Graham Kapowsin

Lake Stevens enters the game as the defending state champ. And, both teams bring perfect 13-0 records into the content. The game is a rematch of the 2021 state title game that was won by Graham Kapowsin.

Against in-state opponents, Lake Stevens has won 24 straight.

3A Championship – Yelm vs. Bellevue

Defending 3A champ Yelm heads into the state championship game as the top team in the High School Football America Washington Top 10 high school football rankings, powered by NFL Play Football. Last year, Yelm edged the Wolverines 28-27 in the state semifinals.

2A Championship – Anacortes vs. Tumwater

Both teams bring undefeated records into the contest — Anacortes (12-0), Tumwater (14-0). Anacortes will be looking for its first state championship. Tumwater will be looking for its seventh state title.

1A Championship – Lakeside (9 Mile Falls) vs. Royal

Royal is the defending 1A champ. Lakeside will be playing in its first state championship game.

2B Championship – Napavine vs. Okanogan

Napavine will be looking for back-to-back state crowns against the same team they beat in 2022. The Tigers won last year’s game 41-27.

2A Championship – Wilbur-Creston-Keller vs. Liberty Bell

Liberty Bell is also trying to back-to-back titles. Standing in the Mountain Lions way is Wilbur-Creston-Keller, a program that hasn’t made beyond the quarterfinals until this year.
