Muncy running back Austin Johnson is the Class 1A Player of the Year and a member of the Pennsylvania Football Writers’ All-State Team. The two-way player ran for 3,015 yards and 48 touchdowns, leading his team to the state semifinals. On defense, he recorded 115 tackles, scoring two defensive touchdowns.
While, Johnson has received some Division I interest, he won’t be playing college football, instead, he’s decided to wrestle at Oklahoma State. He’s appeared in three straight Pennsylvania state championships, winning a title as a sophomore in 2023.
Johnson’s rushing total is the 12th highest all-time in Pennsylvania high school football history. The all-time record is held by Dominick Bragalone, who ran for 4,704 yards in 2014 for South Williamsport.
Justin Bienkowski of Port Allegany is the Coach of the Year after leading his team to a runner-up finish in the classification. Bienkowski’s troops lost to Bishop Guilfoyle in the state final.
