Albany will be looking for a three-peat when the Texas Class 2A high school football playoffs begin this week. After an 0-2 start, the Lions have won seven straight going into their 2A Division II opening game against Era.

The Lions are by legendary coach Denney Faith, who owns 367 lifetime wins, the fifth most all-time in Texas high school football history.

Timpson is the reigning 2A Division I champ. After a perfect 16-0 mark in 2023, the Bears bring a 5-4 mark into the postseason. They’ll open against Hearne.
