Belleville will be going after a three-peat in Michigan’s Division 1. Led by the top junior player in the nation, quarterback Bryce Underwood, many feel the preseason No. 1 Tigers will achieve their goal. In fact, a lot feel that Underwood will leave high school with four state championship rings.

In the national rankings, Belleville starts the season ranked No. 64 in the HSFA 300, powered by NFL Play Football. The Tigers could be higher if it wasn’t for a weak strength of schedule. The team doesn’t have a regular season game against a team in the Top 300.

Belleville will open against River Rouge in the Xenith Prep Kickoff Classic on Friday.

No. 2 Detroit King will also have three-peat on its mind when the season opens this weekend in the Xenith event. On Saturday, the Crusaders will take-on Ohio’s Archbishop Moeller, ranked No. 132 nationally. The game will be the finale of the six-game event.

Also on the Xenith card is No. 3 Cass Tech and No. 6 West Bloomfield. CT plays Southfield A&T on Saturday. West Bloomfield plays Chippewa Valley on Thursday.

The other big event in the state is the Battle at the Big House in Ann Arbor at the University of Michigan. No. 9 Clarkston will square-off in the final game in the six-game event.
