Defending 6A champ Warren Central ran its win streak to 12 straight Friday night by beating #24 Ben Davis 28-21.
According to the Indy Star, Ben Davis (4-1) took a 21-14 lead at the start of the second half on a 67 yard touchdown pass from Kyle Castner. However, Warren Central showed why it’s won eight Indiana state championships from there on out. The Warriors winning touchdown came with 3:59 left when head coach Jayson West inserted Mykelti Williams at quarterback for the winning four yard score.
The Indy Star game wrap story states that eight of Warren Central’s 12 victories during the win streak have been by a touchdown or less.
The victory sets-up an October 10th showdown between Warren Central and Carmel, the #1 in the latest Associated Press Indiana high school rankings, for the Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference title. However, Ben Davis can throw a monkey wrench into things when it plays Carmel a week prior on October 3rd.
