Buford’s playoff win streak stands at 16 straight after Saturday’s opening night win over Peachtree Ridge. This week, the Wolves will battle Walton in the second round of the 7A playoffs. Both teams are ranked in the High School Football America 100 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.
In addition to going for a fourth straight state title, Buford is in the national championship conversation. The Wolves are ranked No. 2. Walton is ranked No. 71 in America.
On the other side of the bracket, No. 24 Mill Creek will play No. 58 North Cobb. Buford beat both teams during the regular season.
In all, twelve teams in the 7A bracket are ranked in the current HSFA 300.
There are also two head-to-head Top 300 matchups in Class 6A — Lee County at Woodward Academy and Northside (Warner Robins) at Marist.
