Bergen Catholic’s drive for a third straight New Jersey Non-Public A title won’t have many cupcake games during its nine-game regular season. The Crusaders, who finished 2002 ranked No. 21 in the High School Football America 300, powered by NFL Play Football, will face eight teams that finished last season in our Top 100.

Two of those games will be against out-of-state opponents. On September 2, BC will take-on New York-power Iona Prep, coming off a 9-3 season and a No. 117 national ranking. The following week, the Crusaders will travel to Florida to play two-time defending state champ Chaminade-Madonna. The Lions, who finished No. 9 in the nation last year, have won five Florida state titles in the last six years.

BC’s nationally-ranked in-state opponents will be: No. 244 Red Bank Catholic (August 25), No. 289 Seton Hall Prep (September 16), arch-rival Don Bosco, ranked No. 51 in 2022 (September 22), No. 238 DePaul Catholic (September 30), No. 157 St. Joseph Regional-Montvale (October 14) and No. 161 St. Peter’s Prep (October 21).
