Three years ago at 10 P.M. Pacific Time on August 11th, High School Football America entered the Southern California market with its radio show on KLAC-AM 570 Fox Sports LA.

High School Football America/SoCal captured the spirit of football throughout the LA area with a wide array of guests from players and coaches to local sports journalists who helped Trish Hoffman and Jeff Fisher build a foundation in one of the best high school football markets in the country.

Our first guest was Petros Papadakis, who is half of the Fox Sports Radio team of the Petros and Money Show.  Petros, who played at San Pedro High School before going on to USC, was a big supporter of High School Football America delivering its brand of high school football journalism to the LA market.

Other guests on that first show were — Chuck Petersen, head coach of Orange Lutheran High School; Harry Welch, head coach of Santa Margarita High School; Mark Tennis of CalHiSports.com; Mike Moschetti, head coach at La Mirada High School; and Eric Sondheimer of the LA Times.

The show also included High School Football America contributors Les Lukach and Garth “Worm” Wyckoff.

Over the course of the season, our family of contributors grew as many of the great local sports writers appeared on the show to provide listeners with the most up-to-date news from LA’s Friday Night Lights.

In October, Steve Fryer, a fantastic sports writer for the Orange County Register, wrote — “Give a listen to the High School Football America radio program on KLAC/570 on Fridays from 10 p.m. to midnight. It is the smoothest and most complete Southern California high school football radio show that has been on the air these past 22 years.”

To celebrate our three year anniversary in Los Angeles, listen to our first show from August 11, 2012 above.
