Mater Dei (Santa Ana, California) has elevated defensive backs coach Frank McManus, Jr. to be the program’s new head football coach. He takes-over for the legendary Bruce Rollinson, who led the Monarchs to three High School Football America national championships in the last six years. Rollinson announced his retirement plan in November.

McManus has been with the Mater Dei program for 16 years.

In 2022, Rollinson had his alma mater in-line for a four national title. The Monarchs loss to eventual national champ St. John Bosco in the CIF-Southern Section Division 1 championship at the Rose Bowl ended Rollinson’s dream of going into the sunset for another national crown.

Rollinson finished his career with a record of 346-87-3.
