3X Texas high school football state champ Jason Herring resigns at Refugio

17 seasons with three Texas high school football championships and four runner-up finishes is how Jason Herring’s resume reads at Refugio. Earlier this week, Herring announced he was stepping down as the Bobcats’ head coach.

Herring’s record at Refugio was an incredible 224-24. According to Dave Campbell’s Texas Football, his teams never won fewer than 11-games in a season.

Longtime assistant Drew Cox will become the school’s head football coach.
