For everyone that thought #5 DeSoto was in-trouble with the loss of quarterback Tristen Wallace to a broken ankle in Week 2, you need to re-think that thought.  Thursday night the Eagles beat #22 Cibolo Steele 29-24 with sophomore Jaylin Nelson running the show for the second straight game.

The Knights had their chances in the second half in the game that was played at Baylor’s brand new McLane Stadium.  In the third quarter, Steele got to the DeSoto 1 yard line, but wasn’t able to find the end zone. Then on the final drive of the game, Steele drove from their own 1 to the DeSoto 16 where the drive stalled.

DeSoto took an early 8-0 lead by scoring on its opening drive.  All of the Eagles points came in the first half.  Cibolo Steele hung-in during the first half on Bryson Denley‘s three touchdown runs to trail 29-18 at the half.
