High School Football America mourns the death of Apalachee High School teacher and football coach Ricky Aspinwall, who was one of four people killed Wednesday during a shooting at the Winder, Georgia school.
Aspinwall, a match teacher at the high school, was the team’s defensive coordinator. Prior to being hired at Apalachee, the 39-year old coached at Mountain View High School in Lawrenceville, Georgia where in 2022 he was named as the Touchdown Club of Gwinnett’s Assistant Coach of the Year.
According to online reports Aspinwall was killed in the doorway of his classroom as he attempted to usher students from the hallway inside to safety.
In addition to Aspinwall, two students were killed along with a 53-year old teacher.
Coach Aspinwall is survived by his wife and two young daughters.
A GoFundMe account has been set-up to help his family.
