The Washington Commanders Week 3 High School Coach of the Week is Steve Ramp of Wise High School in Maryland.

Rapp, has spent over 12 years shaping athletes at Dr. Henry A. Wise Jr. High School. Through his commitment to both football and community, Coach Rapp uses the sport as a vehicle to teach life lessons, fostering conversations about social justice and equality. His ability to secure equipment and opportunities for his players, along with organizing community events and college visits, highlights his dedication to both his team’s success and their growth as responsible citizens.

Coach Rapp is deeply respected by his players and peers for his leadership and focus on character development. He incorporates programs like “Lead Them Up” to promote both mental and physical growth among his athletes, and this season’s motto, “Purpose Greater Than Anyone’s Opinion,” serves as a guiding principle for his team. His holistic approach to coaching, which includes prioritizing player health, safety, and mental well-being, sets a high standard both on and off the field.

About the Washington Commanders Coach of the Week

The High School Coach of the Week Program is an NFL initiative that aims to highlight local high school football coaches who consistently demonstrate a dedication to their programs, their players’ health and safety, and making a difference in their community. The winning coaches are selected by a panel of Washington Legends and Commanders staff, and each coach will receive a $2,000 donation for their football program from the Washington Commanders Charitable Foundation. All Coaches recognized throughout the season will be invited to the Commanders home game against the Dallas Cowboys to network with other Coach of the Week award recipients for an end-of-season celebration. In addition, these Coaches are eligible to be named the Washington Commanders’ nominee for the Don Shula NFL Coach of the Year award towards the end of the season.
