The No. 41 team in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football, will be without its head coach this week when it plays defending national champ Mater Dei in Southern California.
Santa Margarita has placed Anthony Rouzier on administrative leave, according to the Orange County Register.
Below is a statement released to local media:
“An investigation concerning incidents within the football program is currently underway. The safety and well-being of our students remains our top priority. We are taking this matter seriously and conducting a comprehensive review to ensure a timely and proper resolution.”
“Santa Margarita Catholic High School is fully cooperating with the appropriate authorities. In order to preserve the integrity of the investigation and respect the privacy of all parties involved, we are unable to provide additional details.”
Defensive coordinator, Steve Fifita, a former NFL defensive tackle, will be the team’s interim head coach.
Rouzier is in his fifth year as head coach of the Eagles.
