Homer is the 2024 Alaska Division III high school football state champ. The Mariners beat Kenai Central 16-0 Saturday at Wasilla High School, giving the program its second state title in the last three years.
Making the win even sweeter was the fact that Homer had lost twice to Kenai Central during the regular season. Neither game was close with the Kardinals winning 21-0 on August 17 and 39-8 on October 4.
Both teams close-out 2024 with 5-5 records.
